Overview

The Field Service Foreman plays a vital role in the maintenance and repair of industrial controls and machinery, with a primary focus on providing on-site service, troubleshooting, and repairs. This role requires expertise in PLC logic troubleshooting and updating, along with the ability to handle service calls with short notice. The foreman is expected to conduct control panel installations, program variable speed drives, estimate service costs, and provide quotes. Strong communication skills are essential, as the foreman will interface with customers to suggest upgrades, enhancements, or replacements.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Industrial controls and industrial machinery service, troubleshooting and repair.

  • PLC logic troubleshooting and updating.

  • On-site service calls.

  • Controls installations.

  • Variable speed drive programming, startup and troubleshooting.

  • Service cost estimating and quoting.

Requirements & Skill Set

  • Ability to respond to service calls for industrial controls with little notice.

  • Troubleshooting skills using software, meters and various test equipment.

  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 30 lbs. up to a height of 3 feet.

  • Knowledge of controls such as PLC’s, DC drives, AC VFD’s, Servos and HMI’s.

  • PLC programming knowledge for connecting, troubleshooting and changes.

Education

  • Two-year degree.

  • High school diploma.

  • Trade school.

  • GED to be evaluated.

Expectations

  • Control panel fabrication when not traveling.

  • Ability to travel on-site for extended times.

  • Interfacing with customers to offer possible upgrades, enhancements or replacements.

  • Be punctual and work overtime as needed.
